All of the information from the course syllabus is on this blog (course policies, grading procedures, assignments, etc.), but if you’d like a paper copy of the syllabus because you lost your syllabus or you missed the first few days of class, email me (denise.landrumgeyer@swosu.edu) or check our class Canvas page (http://swosu.instructure.com).

Please keep in mind that this syllabus is subject to change in order to best respond to class needs.  I will inform you of any changes in class and give you an updated paper copy as needed.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have over the course of the semester, and we can clarify and adjust things accordingly.

Course Description

Training for skills in communication, as in ENGL 1113, but a higher level. Research and argument emphasized (from course catalog). Successful completion of ENG 1113: Composition I is required to enroll in this course.

  • Explore the kinds of writing, reading, and research situations you might do as you progress through college in your chosen major;
  • Develop your communication and analysis skills using a variety of technologies;
  • Consider the rhetorical appropriateness of different genres to convey your ideas;
  • Work with MLA and APA citation styles;
  • Evaluate the ways in which different kinds of research & technologies can be useful to you as a writer.
  • Develop other individual goals in this class, which will lead to other course objectives.
  • Have fun. Occasionally. Maybe. I hope?
